Set up tips for your device

You can use the Roc Terminal+ web portal to configure your payment device to accept tips from customers.

You can set up tips in one of the following ways:

  • Prompt for tips during a sale - Devices prompt your customers to add a tip before they make payment. Use tip prompts if you are a retail business, for example, you have a cafe or a convenience store.
  • Adjust tips after a sale - Use your device to take payment that doesn't include a tip. The customer can then choose to tip by writing a tip amount on their receipt, and after you can adjust the payment. Use tip adjustments if you are a service-based business, for example, you have a restaurant or a bar.
  • Prompt for tips during a sale and adjust tips after a sale - Offer both tip prompts during a sale and tip adjustments after a sale.

Constraints for tip adjustments

To accept tip adjustments after a sale, you can't use a pricing program like RewardPay or Consumer Choice, and you must also have one of the following Merchant Category Codes (MCC):

  • Taxis or Limos - 4121
  • Restaurants - 5812
  • Bars or Taverns - 5813
  • Beauty or Barbers - 7230
  • Health or Beauty - 7298
