Getting started

To set up your X800 device with the scanner and the cash drawer, complete the following steps: 

Step 1. Connect your X800 to the cash drawer and scanner.
Step 2. Set up your cash drawer:

Step 2a. Configure cash management settings in Roc Terminal+.
Step 2b. Update your X800.
Step 2c. Adjust cash drawer settings on your X800.

Step 3. Add UPC for your products.
Step 4. Run a sale.

Step 1. Connect your X800 to the cash drawer and scanner

  1. Plug the power cable into the Multi-Comm Hub, and then plug the Multi-Comm Hub into a power outlet. 
  2. Set your X800 on the Multi-Comm Hub. 
  3. Insert the scanner’s USB cable into the Multi-Comm Hub. 
  4. Connect the cash drawer to the Multi-Comm Hub. 
    1. Plug the RJ11 end of the communication cable into the Multi-Comm Hub. 
    2. Plug the RJ12 end of the communication cable into the cash drawer. 

a. Configure your cash management settings in Roc Terminal+

  1. Log in to https://terminalplus.rocpos.com  
  2. From the side menu, select Device Management.
  3. Select Terminal and Transaction, and then select Transaction.
  4. Set Change Management on Cash Transactions to Enabled

b. Update your X800 

  1. From the home screen of your X800 device, tap Main Menu ≡, and then tap Updates.
  2. Tap Enter.

c. Adjust cash drawer settings on your X800 

You can configure the cash drawwer to open only for specific payment types or specific transaction statuses. 

  1. On your X800 device, tap Main Menu ≡.
  2. Tap Settings > Utility > Cash Draw.
  3. Turn on the Cash Draw toggle.
  4. In the Payment Type section, select the payment types that you want the cash drawer to open for.
  5. In the Transaction Status section, select the transaction statuses that you want the cash drawer to open for.
  6. Tap SAVE. 

Step 3. Add UPC to your products

Before you can scan a product with your scanner, you need to add the Universal Product Code (UPC) to the product in Roc Terminal+. You can add a UPC to a new product or to an existing product that you previously added to your catalog.

Add a UPC to a new product

  1. Log in to https://terminalplus.rocpos.com  
  2. From the side menu, select Settings.
  3. Select Product, and then select Add Item.
  4. In the Add Your Item section, enter the item details.
  5. In the SKU field, enter the UPC of the item.
  6. Select Create

Add a UPC to an existing product

  1. Log in to https://terminalplus.rocpos.com  
  2. From the side menu, select Settings.
  3. Select Product.
  4. Locate the product that you want to edit, tap, and then tap Edit.
  5. From the Edit Your Item section, in the SKU field, enter the UPC of the item.
  6. Select Update

Step 4. Run a sale

Important: If you remove the X800 from the Multi-Comm Hub, the cash drawer and scanner do not work. 

 

To run a cash sale using your X800, cash drawer, and scanner, complete the following steps:

  1. From the bottom of the home screen on your X800 device, tap the Cart iconA black background with a black squareAI-generated content may be incorrect..
  2. Use your scanner to scan an item.
  3. From the upper right of the screen, tap the Cart iconA black background with a black squareAI-generated content may be incorrect..
  4. From the Checkout screen, tap CASH.
  5. In the Amount Tendered field, enter the cash amount that your customer handed to you, and then tap OK.
  6. Put the cash in the cash drawer and give any change to your customer.
  7. Close the drawer.
