Split a payment

You can configure your payment device to split a payment between up to five customers. For each customer, you can adjust their payment amount as needed. When a customer pays, they are prompted to add a tip based on their split payment. 

For each payment, the device automatically divides the remaining total evenly by the number of customers and displays which payment you are on, for example, 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3. 

To split a payment, complete the following steps:

  1. Enable split payments for your device.
  2. Download updates to your device.
  3. Split a payment.

Step 1: Enable split payments for your device

  1. Log in to https://terminalplus.rocpos.com/login.
  2. On the side menu, select Device Management.
  3. (Optional) Search for your device using one of the following criteria:
    • Endpoint identifier (EPI) of your device
    • Serial number of your device
    • Model number of your device
    • Doing Business As (DBA) name associated with your device
    • Name of the store associated with your device
  4. From the list of devices, select the EPI of your device.
  5. Select EDIT PARAMETERS > Terminal & Transaction > Transaction.
  6. Turn on Split Payment.
  7. Select SAVE.

Step 2: Download updates to your device

  1. On the main screen of your device, tap .
  2. Tap UPDATES
  3. Verify that the EPI is correct. If the field is empty, enter the EPI of your device.
  4. Tap Enter.

Step 3: Split a payment

  1. On the main screen of your device, enter the total sale amount.
  2. Tap Split Sale A group of people icon

  3. To specify the number of customers to split the payment with, tap
  4. Tap OK. The sale screen shows the split amount for the first customer.
  5. For each customer, complete the following steps to take a payment:
    1. Confirm or adjust the amount, and then tap Enter.
    2. (Optional) The device prompts the customer to add a tip.
    3. The customer completes the payment. 
    4. (Optional) Offer the customer a receipt. 

Continue to take payments from each customer until you’ve collected the full sale amount.
