# Fees for voids and refunds

When you void or refund a transaction, Payroc or the card brand might charge you a processing fee. The fee depends on your merchant account and the card brand.

You also pay the fees associated with the original transaction:

- If you void a transaction, you pay only the original authorization fee.
- If you refund a transaction, you pay the original authorization fee, the interchange fee, and the card network fee.

To reduce the fees that you pay, we recommend that you void the transaction before the transaction settles.
